New Hampshire Civil Liberties Union

The New Hampshire Civil Liberties Union (NHCLU) was founded in 1968, and is the state affiliate of the American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU). NHCLU is a nonpartisan organization that defends civil liberties in the courtroom and in the legislature and seeks to expand awareness of individual rights in the classroom, in civic groups, and in the media. NHCLU handles prison conditions, First Amendment, and prisoners’ rights cases and operates a number of specific projects, including the AIDS Education Project of the National Prison Project and the Gay and Lesbian Rights Project of the ACLU. Survivors of sexual abuse behind bars can contact NHCLU by mail by filling-out and mailing in the Intake Questionnaire (link provided above) or by writing a letter to the address above. NHCLU accepts telephone inquiries regarding civil liberties issues after an Intake Questionnaire has been completed.
