Service Provider Resources

People who are sexually assaulted in detention deserve the same level of care that is available to survivors in the community. The Prison Rape Elimination Act (PREA) standards pave the way for local rape crisis centers to provide life-saving services behind bars. However, many advocates lack the specialized knowledge needed to reach incarcerated survivors.

This section of JDI’s website contains a variety of tools to support advocates in helping this underserved population. With funding from the Office for Victims of Crime, the Office on Violence Against Women, and the Resource Sharing Project, JDI has developed resources guides, policy templates, fact sheets, training curricula and other tools. We also run webinars on providing services in detention, and provide direct expert assistance to advocates looking to build their skills.
