Women’s Aid in Crisis (WAIC)

Women’s Aid in Crisis (WAIC) is a private, non-profit organization that provides comprehensive services to survivors of sexual assault and domestic violence in a six-county area.

Service area: Barbour, Braxton, Randolph, Tucker, Upshur, and Webster county.
Works with: All survivors of sexual assault, their friends and family.
Services for Survivors During Incarceration Include: Crisis intervention via the hotline (M-F 8:30-4:00pm); hospital accompaniment during forensic exams; legal advocacy and court accompaniment for sexual assault cases; information; and referrals.
Services for Survivors After Release Include: All of the above, as well as counseling referrals; support groups; emergency shelter; and a cell phone program for survivors in imminent danger.
Services for Loved Ones Include: Crisis intervention; counseling referrals; and information.
Fees: Free.
Additional Information: Does not serve sex offenders or domestic violence offenders.
