New Mexico AIDS Services

New Mexico AIDS Services (NMAS) is a non-profit community based organization whose mission is to enhance the quality of life for people and communities affected by HIV/AIDS through innovative and comprehensive services, support, and prevention education.

Service area: Bernalillo County and Northwestern New Mexico
Work with: People infected with and affected by HIV/AIDS
Services for survivors during incarceration include: An elective peer-education class for women at the New Mexico Women’s Correctional Facility in Grants and free, anonymous HIV testing for detainees at the Bernalillo County Jail. Survivors who are concerned about their HIV status or who want additional information on NMAS services can call or write to the address above.
Services for survivors after release include: Anonymous HIV testing and counseling; case management; housing assistance; food bank; emotional support services, such as individual counseling, a support group for Spanish-speaking people with HIV, a medication support group, and a support group for HIV+ women; information; and referrals.
Services for loved ones include: Anonymous HIV testing; information; and referrals.
