Survivor Testimony Guidelines

JDI is committed to highlighting survivors’ first-hand experiences. If you have been sexually abused while in custody, we invite you to submit your account to us, for possible inclusion on our website or other communications. Whether we are able to post your story or not, you will hear back from us as soon as we have received your letter.

You can provide as much or as little detail as you want. We ask you to include only information about your own story, not what you have seen or heard happening to others.

Please specify whether you would like us to share your story with your first name, or if you prefer your account to be anonymous.

If you allow us to use your name and you would like a photo of yourself to be included, please provide us with a picture (or tell us how we can get one).

Please do not include your contact information or requests for legal or other forms of direct assistance in your account. Instead, if you are looking for support services, please see our Resource Guide.

Note that submissions may be edited for length, comprehension, and readability. Any individuals’ names, other than your own, will be removed.
