Domestic and Sexual Violence Services

The Department of Family Services’ Domestic and Sexual Violence Services offers compassionate and comprehensive state-accredited programs for adults, teens, and children of all ages and genders who have been affected by domestic and sexual violence, stalking and human trafficking.

Service area: Fairfax County, Fairfax City, Town of Herndon, Town of Vienna, and City of Falls Church. As well as Fairfax County Adult Detention Center.   

Work with: All survivors of domestic and sexual violence, stalking, and human trafficking and their family and friends. DSVS also provides services to Domestic Violence offenders.

Services for survivors during incarceration include: 24-hour Domestic and Sexual Hotline services including crisis support, information and referral, optioning counseling, and safety planning, advocacy services including court accompaniment for sexual assault cases, counseling services, and hospital accompaniment for forensic sexual assault exams at Inova Fairfax Hospital.

Services for survivors after release include: All of the above, as well as support groups for victims of domestic and sexual violence and ADAPT (Anger & Domestic Abuse Prevention & Treatment Program), a domestic violence intervention program who have been physically, emotionally, or sexually abusive to a spouse, partner, child, parent or other family member.

Services for loved ones include: All of the above.

Fees: All services, except ADAPT, are free to survivors regardless of income level or insurance.

Additional Information: Interpretation available. DSVS does not provide services for victims of incest. Court accompaniment for protective orders is not available in cases where Advocacy Services is working with a cross or mutual protective order, or if they are the respondent.
