ACLU of Virginia

The ACLU of Virginia handles select litigation limited to state prison facilities and county jails. The ACLU will only respond to written inquiries and does not give legal advice or do intake over the phone. If you choose to write to the ACLU, give a description of what civil rights injustice occurred, what steps you took to resolve it, and what grievance procedures you attempted to access without success. The ACLU generally only handles cases that could lead to a change in institutional policy and does not handle appeals cases.
