YWCA of Richmond, Sexual Violence Program

The YWCA of Richmond offers free, comprehensive crisis services for adult and teens survivors of sexual assault and their families. The Sexual Violence Program is the only certified sexual violence program serving the Greater Richmond area.

Service area: The towns of Hopewell, Petersburg, and Richmond and the counties of Chesterfield, Goochland, Hanover, Henrico, and Powhatan
Work with: All survivors of sexual assault over the age of 12 and their families
Services for survivors during incarceration include: Crisis intervention via the 24-hour hotline or by mail; hospital accompaniment and advocacy during forensic exams; court accompaniment; and information and referrals.
Services for survivors after release include: All of the above, as well as individual counseling; support groups; and emergency shelter, if needed. Sexual violence support groups and individual counseling are conducted at the downtown location and at confidential locations throughout the community.
Services for loved ones include: Crisis intervention, support, information, and referrals.
