“One Day at a Time: Understanding the Culture of Corrections” will educate rape crisis advocates and other community-based service providers on the criminal justice system and the culture of corrections. We will give an overview of the system and how the PREA standards apply in each type of facility.
JDI provides advocates with an understanding of the different approaches in the adult and youth systems and the corrections mindset in regards to safety, security, and following protocol. With the right tools, advocates can create shared goals and visions with corrections officials when developing new programs to provide services to incarcerated survivors.
