In “It Takes a Team: Building a Coordinated Response to Sexual Abuse in Prison,” advocates will learn how to develop a Sexual Assault Response Team (SART) inside prisons. After explaining the SART model, presenters outline how to establish a team to deliver immediate, confidential, and comprehensive services in the aftermath of a sexual assault in prison. The session explains, step by step, the various components that must be in place to implement a prison SART, explaining the roles and duties of each team member.

The webinar also highlights how advocates can use the PREA standards as a tool to build prison-based coordinated response teams. The webinar will include a conversation between advocates who have partnered with the Pennsylvania Department of Corrections to develop SARTs. These seasoned advocates will give tips on how to build — and sustain — partnerships with corrections facilities. The webinar will conclude with a discussion between the participants and the presenters.
